Removing stains

I have a one year old liner that has some brown staining from bad algae before I cleared it up using the BBB method. The pool is perfect otherwise. I have tried brushing it by diving down with a scrub brush but can't stay down long enough to get a good scrub!

Also, I have a dark gray " ring around the tub" on the stairs and the bottom of the plastic edging that holds the liner.

Any ideas?

Are you sure it's organic staining and not metal staining? Why don't you take some vitamin C tablets and crush them up and rub them on a place and see if it helps.

I am not sure, but it only appeared after I had a bad algae problem this spring. Same water source as last summer with no staining (and no algae) so I only assumed. Is there a way to test to see if is is metal staining? I have the full testing kit.

Rubbing some vitamin C on it is the best way to test it. If the vitamin C removes or lightens it, then it's metals.
