Pentair - operating in 1% without pentair controler

is there anyway to give the pentair ic40 a signal to operate at increments less than 20%. i know there are other ways to get it to reduce its output through timers or adjustable current sensing switches (I have a pentair vs pump). The pentair automation systems are expensive when you only have a pool and a waterfall. Any information would be appreciated.

Unless you feel like decoding their communications bus protocol, or have one of their automation systems or the IntelliPH, you are limited to steps of 20%.
