replace union

Hello - The union on my pump is leaking a good amount of water that i believe is affecting the pressure as well. What is the step by step process to replace this? i am pretty handy but this is my first attempt at replacing pool plumbing.





Also- you can see a coupling downstream of the pump. A specific question would be where is best to cut this pipe to replace the fittings? should i cut past the coupling or before it?

No need for that straight line coupler to be there..........may have been in the past. Hacksaw, tape measure, sand paper, pvc glue and cleaner and you're done.

I can't see a union in your pic???? Are you talking about the adapter (white) that goes into your pump body?

That's where a half union needs to be then.

Where should I cut the exisitkng pipes?

On the filter side of that straight line coupler.

Ok great. Should I just put another couple in then?

I'd put a full union there instead. You'll thank yourself the first time you need to do any pump maintenance.
