pool heater

Does anyone know of a pool heating system for an in ground pool that runs on solar power?

(Not a solar cover, a heater that is run by electricity produced by a solar panel)

If so: cost, effectiveness in winter in the south (it does get into the 30's but only for short time)
is it even worth it??

The best thing to do is get a solar pool heater that heats the water by circualting pool water through tubing panels. They are definitely worth the investment.

Making electricity using photovoltaic (solar) cells is very inefficient and to have enough of them to power a pool heater would be a very large investment in dollars and real estate.

About $12,000, the price for a 7 kw grid tie system, if you want batteries add another $3000.

I really think a propane or natural gas system would be a better bet, or a passive solar system.
