skimmer filter basket pops up

My skimmers filter basket keeps popping up when the pump turns off.
AG pool with a cartridge filter (24"?).
The problem is, sometimes it will not set back in correctly.
I happened to catch it today as the timer turned it on. I saw the return line bubbling.

What can cause this "burp" when the pump turns off.

thanks

kenshell,

I worry about that getting in somehow .

Maybe try not such a small rock. Choose a rock that is larger than any of the piping that the rock might get caught in. This way you won't be able to send a rock to your pump impeller.

(I tried searching this forum, but had too many posts to review when I searched for "basket", "rock", etc. Sorry for the links to those "other guys".)

Here is a commercial solution: http://www.coolpoolsolutions.com/

I like the idea behind the Skimmer Buddy, but if you used that, I don't see how you could use a skimmer sock, and I do like my skimmer sock!

My skimmer basket pops up sometimes, too. I make it a point to check my skimmer every night to (a) see if it's popped up, and (b) to see what kind of Crud is in it. Had a hornet, a carpenter bee, some Japanese beetles, and a grasshopper in it tonight - pretty good catch.
