Replacing diverter assembly

I have a Sta-Rite T-200BP-1 Filter and my spider gasket is built into the diverter assembly. I have heard that these can be a pain to replace. Mine needs replaced because the gasket is smashed in one area. It's either replace it or spend the money to get the whole new muti-port valve since they do not make the one I have any longer. What are your thoughts on pulling the handle apart to replace the diverter assembly?

They're not too hard to repair. Just take your time and watch what you're doing and it'll go fine.

Thanks, appreciate the reply. Is there a specific way I should pull the pin off the handle. I received the parts yesterday.

Not really, though you want to have the diverter assembly compressed while you do it. A vice, clamp, or just manual pressure should be fine.

What is the proper way to compress it? I have a c-clamp but not sure where to place on top of valve to compress the diverter in order to remove the pin.
