Converting from Baquacil to chlorine

I would only shock at night until you get your test kit. Once that arrives you can hit it hard. Until then you're going in blind.

Assume nightly after the sun drops the FC is zero. Add enough chlorine to get to 15. It shouldn't take long for your kit to get there. You can do the same once or twice during the day too, which will speed up the process. It will use extra bleach however as you're SLAMMING blindly. Keep brushing often too.

Looks completely normal for a conversion.

So, if it said 112 ounces, that is how much bleach/chlorine you should pour into the pool, in front of the return, with the pump running.

I would test again in an hour, if you can.

It's been a tough weekend...to include more rain!

I drove from out of town for an hour to come home and vacuum, test water and add more bleach.

I can see the bottom now. I think I'm not testing often enough and adding bleach often enough to make this conversion go quicker. Making this assumption because of reading so many conversion threads this weekend.

I don't have test results with me but will post them later in the day. I don't want to guess. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1373893706.173840.jpg[/attachment:2gpk7w8z]ImageUploadedByTapatalk1373893725.489757.jpg[/attachment:2gpk7w8z]

Hand photo taken with arm elbow deep. Last week same time, could not see my hand.

Making progress.

Can you see if you have goo or other debris on the floor? If you do, vacuum any goo, leaves, and debris to waste.

When will your kit be here? If would be better if you could test more frequently as you get closer to the end of the process to see where you are, as opposed to guessing.

Things are great!! Free chlorine held last night. Clear clean water!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1374006917.531428.jpg[/attachment:2hrf15kw]

Changing sand tomorrow.

Thanks for your help! The directions are clearer now that I've gone through this process! [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES] I had zero knowledge of chlorine or any other chemical for that matter. I guess you could tell. I've learned a lot...thanks to you and this forum.

Test kit did arrive several days ago. It's amazing! I feel in charge of my own pool now.

The pool store exchanged Baquacil oxidizer for bags of filter sand.

Woo hoo

Getting closer... Have all of your pool toys and such gone swimming to remove any b-goo? Now is a good time to get all the goo off all the stuff likely (or unlikely) to get into the pool. Your pool tools, too. Poles, vacuums, hoses...
