New Spa user needing help!!!

Hi
I've recently purchased a Lay-z spa and I'm having truble getting the chemical balance right.
I have either got my chlorine levels too low but my ph and alkaline are ok.
Or I have my chlorine and alkaline too high and my ph level ok.
I've been trying to get this sorted for the past 24 hours without any success.
I'm so frustrated.
Can anyone help me out?

What are you using as a sanitizer (i.e. chlorine, bromine...)?
