Intex 2650 Pump - how long should it run?

How long should i run the pump on my intex 15x48" ? I have the 2650 sand filter at the pool store they told it should run minimum 8 hours but in the instruction book it says 2 hours

You run it as long as it takes to keep the pool clean and to allow enough time for proper circulation and chlorination. I'd start with about 8 hours and read the Pool School article on how to adjust it from there.
