CYA level while Winterized?

I am dealing with a high CYA this Summer, hovering around 100 - 110. Large replacement of water is not practical because of a low producing well and expense of trucking in water. My questions is, what happens with the CYA level over the Winter when the pool is covered? Would the CYA level be lower, higher, or the same next Summer when opened?

It will be the same (barring breakdown to ammonia - which isn't likely). The only way to lower that CYA is partial drain and refill.

Well, you don't say if you drain your pool down for winter protection or just cover it.

I assumed that there was no drainage for winter due to his statement that water replacement is not practical. But perhaps he does drain it a bit for winter. Give a little more info MT !!

I normally only bring the water down to below the skimmer. So not much drainage.

I don't know where you live MT
But if you get a fair amount you could always divert the rainfall into your pool
It won't add a lot at first but over time I'm sure it would help
you would be surprised how much water comes off your roof in a moderate rain storm
