have rough buildup on bottom of pool. Its white and in some places almost tacky. Almost impossible to remove. Pool chemistry in correct range but pH is 8.1. Any ideas? calcium problem or problem resulting from pine needles in pool?

Welcome to the forum. :lol: Maybe it's both. Do you have reason to suspect pine needles?
It would be easier to answer the question with a full set of test results, especially CH and TA.
