new filter ordered...do I have enough pump?

I am getting a Pentair 420 filter.
Currently have a uprated 1.5 HP Hayward Super II.

Do I need a bigger pump? The Pentair manual recommends 150 gpm and the Hayward spec looks like a max of 115 gpm with even just 40 feet of head....

I am looking at the Pentair specs and it says maximum flow rate... am I ok then?

There is no minimum flow rate on the filter ... the 150 gpm is a maximum flow rate for the filter.

In fact, the filters work BETTER on lower flow rates. So you are fine.

Actually, the pump you have is likely larger than you really need and you could save money on electricity by eventually replacing it with a smaller 2-speed motor/pump.

BTW, that filter is right around the size we would recommend for your pool size ... so it should work well
