CYA VERY High

I estimate our CYA level at 200... using Taylor test kit recommended by TFP I tested a 50/50 mix of pool and tap water to receive a CYA level of 100.

We are in the process of draining to lower CYA level. Question is how much volume can we remove before we have to worry about floating the pool? (24,000 gal IG plaster pool)

drain 1/3 to be safe. refill then drain 1/3 again. Test again and drain a third time if necessary.

Depends on your water table height. Generally, 1/3 at a time is recommended here, repeated as many times as needed to bring it down to 30-50. Guessing here, but I would say a minimum of twice, checking the CYA after each one.

A lot depends on where you are. (Hint: pool-school/read_before_you_post) If you live in Louisiana, you might strike water digging 2 feet in your yard. Other places might have to go 100 feet to hit an aquifer.

1/3 should be a safe bet.
