Adding Alkalinity Increaser through Skimmer

Yes, and no. 99% of the time you can add things through the skimmer and nothing will really go wrong, but now and then something will go wrong. For example it is possible to add the powdered chemicals too quickly, causing them to clump up in the strainer basket and block the water flow, which could (only sometimes) damage the pump. Because of that, we recommend adding alkalinity increaser by scattering it across the surface of the pool, and PH increaser by pre-disolving in a bucket and then pouring slowly in front of a return jet with the pump running. Those approaches will work every time without problems.

if you put the selector valve to "recirculate" then ph+ or ta+ will be smashed up by the pump impellors and won´t cause the pool water to cloud up.

if you add ph+ too quickly to the pool surface it can cloud up the pool water (like a white cloud) which can take days to clear.
