Compressor for Pool Closing

I am looking to buy an air compressor and need some help on specs, size, etc.

I plan to use it for:

1. Flushing out irrigation system on a 250ft deep lot
2. Flushing out in-ground pool lines for winterizing
3. Anything else that I can find a use for...

Do people typically just have the compressor in a garage (or shed/cabana) and run a long hose to where ever they need it or do you take the compressor to the spot you need to use it at?

What brands should I buy / avoid?

How capacity / size do I need?

Gas or electric?

We use the cyclone pool blower (http://www.amazon.com/Air-Supply-Cyclon ... ool+blower)

For scenarios where the blower will not fit, we use a Mi-T-M air compressor which we carry with us. I don't know how powerful it really needs to be for this purpose so a small one should do the job but you want something where you can regulate the PSI of the output that way you don't damage your underground plumbing (You will have one heck of a problem if you do that)
