Should I be unplugging something from my Intex SWG?

I've read clips/phrases about unplugging a copper ionizer or something, but never found and explanation as to why or if this is in all models. I'm getting ready to turn mine on today and wanna do it right The manual mentioned nothing about having 'options'. Should I be unplugging something from mine?

You want to unplug the copper bars, which are behind the control box in the photo you linked to. They constantly add copper to the water. We strongly recommend never adding copper to the water for any reason. Intex just does this without discussion or any option. However, the cable connecting to the bars unplugs very easily, which solves the problem.

This thread shows how to remove the copper bars if you want to take them out completely.
