Should I add DE to sand filter

This has probably been asked many times but a lot of the info I searched is a couple years old. So, should I add DE to my sand filter. If so where do you get it(other than a local pool store) and is there a sticky or something about DE on here. I read how to add it but was wondering more about why to add it. Thanks so much, Ryan

How is pool-school/add_de_to_a_sand_filter

Why is if the pool is cloudy after the shock process or whatever and is taking too long to clear.

You can find it at Walmart (Filter Aide is one name), or hardware stores if you do not want to go to the pool store.

The article is right in the How To section as far as how: pool-school/add_de_to_a_sand_filter

As to why ... well if you have to ask you do not need too ;) It can just be helpful to filter out smaller particles or speed up clearing a cloudy pool ... no reason beyond that.
