Just want to say thank you to everyone. The DE is doing the trick. Pool is becoming clear. thank you

Two things can any one explain to me what DE actually does?

Second, this morning stats:
PH 7.2
FC 42
CC 0
TA 90
CA 230
CYA 50/60

I haven't added chlorine since last week when it was reading 30.5. How does this spike ?

any thoughts?

You adding the DE into your sand filter creates a layer of DE on top of the sand. So the sand in your filter becomes the fingers or grids in a DE filter, and the layer of DE filters out finer particles than the sand was able to on it's own.
