Blue Crystal chlorine tabs

I was looking for chlorine tabs without trichlor. I have a 55gal pool and handling all the jugs of bleach gets old while I am moving to get up to shock value without increasing CYA.

Homedepot had a 16lb pail of HTH yellow top pails for ~$55. The yellow top HTH are the line without trichlor. Each tab yielded 49% avail chlorine.

While I was looking in the plumbing section, I found this "Blue Crystal" stuff. The 10lb pail was $68. Look like it's marketed for wastewaster treatment and not specifically for a swimming pool.

Specs look good:
Active Ingredient - Calcium Hypochlorite Ca (OCl)
Available Chlorine 70%
Inert Ingredients 30%

Has anybody tried these on a swimming pool?

They dissolve way to quickly to be used in the way trichlor is used.

There is no form of chlorine that dissolves slowly and doesn't add CYA. There simply aren't that many chemical combinations that work, and the one you want isn't one of the ones that exist.
