newbie here...have a pool pilot digital and the red light starts flashing with the check/clean cell message whenever the cell is generating. the volts are around 14 and the amps about 3.9 -4.2. replaced the cell (sc-36) and know change. any ideas before i have to buy a new box? this 1 is 7 years old and has worked great up until about a month ago. any help would be appreciated. scott

Scott. how do you have the unit wired? Directly to a circuit breaker, through a time clock, through an electronic control system, or some other way?
Press the BOOST button and let it run a minute before doing the TEST POOL PILOT, and see if the amps and volts change.
What is your salt level (you may need to take a water sample to get tested, rather than what they unit is showing)?
With the Check/Clean Cell message, it's still generating chlorine, just at a lower output.

not sure how it is wired. salt is in the 3400-3600 range. it is producing, but i have to put it on boost every other day to keep the chlorine up. was hoping it was something simple like one of the 3 fuses had blown
If the unit is producing chlorine at all and the cell is 7 years old, the odds are fairly good that the cell is wearing out. Still, there are a couple of checks that are worth doing first. First, remove the cell for a moment and look at the cell plates. If they have any white crusty stuff on them they need to be cleaned. If some of the corners have been worn away then it needs to be replaced. Also, do a Test Pool Pilot on the front panel after you have been in boost mode for 30 seconds and get the volts amps reading to confirm that the cell is wearing out.

power comes from the house to a breaker box at the pool and out of the breaker box to the unit both the unit and salt strip say the salt is about 3400-3600. readings are a little lower (13.9 volts 3.7 amps) when cell is generating. when the cell is not generating, it is about 14.2 volts and 4.2 amps
Trip the breakers and reset them. When amps and volts are about half of what they should be, the power box may be getting 110 volts instead of 220 volts (factory wired for 220 volts - unless it was changed on installation).
If the unit is receiving 220 volts, then it points to damage to the power module in the control box.
Check the cell cord on both ends for any signs of damage or discoloration too.
