Water is still light green and it's June!

Have had pool open about 3 weeks now. Frustrating trying to clear it up this year.
It is an 18x44 in-ground fiberglass pool with a SWG.
Just tested with a Taylor K-2006 kit and these are the numbers =
FC= 13
PH= 7.3
TA= 75
CC=1
Calcium Hardness = 30
CYA= 68

Walls are also brown. We have well water and have to use vitamin C every year.
Any advice??

Yeppers, what Casey said :)

You do need to follow the shock process article in Pool School. Link in my sig

Have you added sequesterant ? If not, you should add some before you shock.

When you get done with that, your calcium is way low for a FG pool. :wink:

Have you had the fill water tested for metals?

What do you mean by "use Vit C every year"? Have you done an AA treatment?

What sequesterant would be best for a SWG?
The way I know we have metals in the water is by doing a vitamin C test on the discoloration on the walls.
I feel lost... I have read and re-read the Pool School and still get confused. What do you do to increase the calcium?
Sorry for the newbie questions, and thanks for the advice!

Wait until it's all clear to do the vitamin C treatment, because you have to let FC drop before doing it and if you think's it's green now, just wait! You won't be able to see the walls so the stains won't matter.

Worry about raising FC to shock level and maintaining it for now. While that process is going on you'll have time to delve into the hidden reaches of Pool School and find your answers.

Added bleach last night. Tested this evening. Numbers are:

FC=19 (was 13.5)
pH= 7 (was 7.3) *** Should we add Borax to raise??
TA= 75 (same)
Calcium Hardness = 0 (was 30)

Of course water is low, so now have to add some....

I know we need to keep adding bleach to get the FC up. Anything we should add at this point to raise the calcium hardness?? (TIA)

You are not adding enough chlorine. Your CYA IS 70. Your shocking level is 28. 19 is not going to cut it. Get chlorine up to 28ppm tonight.
