New kit! Real numbers. Now what??

I have a cloudy pool. I can make out liner pattern, very cloudy blue. I have been trying to keep at shock level for 2 weeks and vacuuming and brushing. Today I got my new kit!!! Here are my numbers.

FC 13
CC 0
pH 7.7
TA 180
CH 240
CYA 35

I think I keep pool at shock level until I have clear water and pass overnite test? Should I keep FC around 14 or 15? Soooo happy with my Taylor K-2006!

Don't forget to brush, including under the ladder rungs and maybe even inside the legs.

I have wedding cake steps and haven't even put them on. I think numbers look good. The walls won't come clean when I brush they feel like sandpaper. What is that? Calcium build up? What do I do with it?

Calcium scale is difficult to remove. Generally you have to drain and manually acid wash.

You are probably getting calcium scaling because your TA is high.

Well I can't really drain the pool, it comes off if I scrub it. Very labor intensive. I need to lower my pH wirh acid in order to lower my TA is that correct?

If my CYA is 35 should my normal level of FC be at 5 after I pass all three criteria for stopping the shock process?

Sure ... your minimum will be 3ppm, you will have to target 5-6ppm to make sure it does not drop below 3ppm by the next day.

Water almost crystal clear. I will keep it up. Next step I guess is tackling scale deposits all over liner walls.

I added half a gallon of muriatic acid and tested few hours later.

Very confused my CH it was 220 yesterday morning. I tested exact same way. Did I mess up?

You must have messed up one of the 2 tests at that is not really possible.

CH is not really that important for a vinyl pool ... and neither of those numbers are high ... so up to you.

Not real concerned about CH but I do have some really bad calcium deposits on walls. Lowering pH and TA can help that right? I can't drain pool.

Yes it can help to maintain a negative CSI (see the calculation in poolcalculator) and brush a lot.
