if FC drops below minimum, but only for a short while, is it always necessary to bring it up to shock level if you have CC of 1?

I'm a little late adding chlorine tonight....have a FC of 1.5, CYA of 30, and CC of @ 1.

Do I really need to bring FC up to 12?

I put in 3 quarts of 8.25 % last night, which should have brought it up to FC 6.8 from 1.5, according to the pool calculator.

Just tested, and FC is 10.5, with CC less than .5.

I'm not sure how the FC reading is possible....to go from 1.5 all the way up to around 10.5 on 3 quarts of 8.25% bleach.

Weird....

regardless, water is crystal clear, and CC is less than .5, so I'll go with it.

Did it recently rain? I registered CC of 1.5 during rain last night, but woke up with CC of 0 and water still crystal clear. I'm not gonna worry about it unless my FC use ramps up or the water starts getting cloudy.
