one more question...
can I use my pump(filter) to drain pool?
was thinking I could put intake hose from skimmer and put inside of pool

will it pull that much head? over top of pool?

You could do that ... or even just use a vacuum or garden hose to siphon the water out over the edge of the pool.

I've found that it's just easier (and about as quick) to drain my pool using the hose to my vacuum. I attach the hose to the vacumm head to weight it to the bottom of the pool. I have to get the suction started by hooking up the wet/dry vac. Once it's flowing, it's flowing great. That being said, I do have an IG pool so the suction process might be a bit easier (and a nice retaining wall to allow the pouring end to be lower than the end that's sucking.)

i rented a submersible pump and it about done, cya WAS 105 as I drained it, per pool store )
so used calculator to estimate how much to to drain, my target range is 40 on cya
so I am draining 62% of water of 30" of depth. then going back fresh. will test and shock as needed

Leave at least a foot of water everywhere so your liner in less likely to shift.
