First time opening

Hi ,

First time opening - in ground vinyl lined - 28,000 gal - cartridge filter, HAyward pump. Everything went back together fine, but when I started up the pump to circulate, the hose that is hooked up between the pump and the filter (used for draining water) was draining water. When I tried to close the valve so that the hose line was closed, I couldn't locate the right position. It seemed that something changed since the previous year, as I cannot close that side of the valve. Does anyone know why this could be the case?

The off position of the valve is on the opposite side of the handle (should actually say OFF or CLOSED). I think you just need to rotate the valve 180 degrees to close off the waste pipe.

It will not let me turn it all the way to that position. I am not sure why this is the case as I did not have any issues with this valve last season. Pool company closed for us last season, so I am not sure if they changed something, etc. All I did was reconnect the pipe at the pump connection.
