Pump, suction, air problems

I really like this site, everyone is so helpful. I have some new issues that popped up after I had my pool acid washed last week. Everything work fine until the acid wash.
It seems that I have developed two leaks. One, the pool is not holding water very well. It has lost about 2 inches in 3 days ( faster than normal in south florida). Secondly, the pump pulls in air. The pump runs ok for about two days then loses its prime. There is still some water in the skimmer though. The pool guy that did the acid wash says I need a new skimmer diverter valve and that should fix the air issue.

It sounds like the issues are connected. The leak in your pool allows the water level to drop below the correct skimmer level and air gets sucked into the skimmer once the water is low enough.

The skimmer has always been full of water, however its still drawing air
