My pool never had a skimmer weir installed. I had someone tell me that some pools these days are built without them. Is that true or does every skimmer need a weir?

The weir helps the surface skimming tremendously and prevents the dirt floating back out when the pump turns off.
You can either try to find the one designed for your skimmer that may screw in, or get one of the universal spring-loaded ones.

Looks my skimmer is a Pentair..... according to the skimmer lid. Here's how my skimmer looks now. My contractor abandoned the job so I've been left to sort out the missing items. You can see the area just looks incomplete. I see areas for a weir to latch into, so I will look into pentair to get one. It looks like all I would need is the weir and it should snap right in, correct? Does it look like I may be needing anything else for this area?
