Hayward Vari-Flo Valve Gasket Replacement question?

Should I use some sealant to glue this gasket in place or nothing at all, simply install the gasket on the cleaned-up plastic? If it requires adhesive what should I use?

After the gasket has been replaced, should I lube it? If so what should I lube it with?

There are two different schools of thought. Some say glue it in, others say don't. Was the original glued in? If it was, then I'd glue the new one.

You need to lube it with some silicon pool lube.

Thanks Bama, it was glued in on my old valve. I replaced the valve last summer, and the gasket has failed, this new one is not glued in. I just redid my pool walls, in addition to a new liner. I am in the process of re plumbing my pump/filter deck, and I am lowering the chlorinater below the valve. Plus I am going to use the BBB method strictly, going forward, so I am hoping the new gasket lasts longer. Thanks again!
