Rusted wall on above ground pool

Above ground has a good sized rusted area about 3 by 4 foot area is this fixable?

can't get pics until tonite but its pretty bad, it goes all the way thru in one spot and the rusted area is probably 2 by 3 feet or so. I've read you can get sheet metal and cut a piece and rivet it over the bad area, thinking of trying that. Don't have the money for a new pool at the time.
