dura glass pump question

Hi, I am a new pool owner and I have dura glass pump. I do not know when it was installed. What is the difference between pre and post 1998 dura glass I pump? Thanks, Kris

Looks like the seal is about the only real difference.

Welcome to the forum.

The seal kits are different and you can see below that there is a copper insert in the seal plate (see 7b) for the pre-1998 pump.

Thanks. So I guess I have to disassemble my pump to know for sure?

I am not sure if there is an external clue or not but it is pretty easy to take apart the wet end.

Are you shopping for a seal kit?

Yes I am. I just opened wet and but I do not know how to get part #10 pulled of the shaft?

Here are some instructions for a motor change which has the part about removing the impeller:

But you should be able to see behind the impeller after you remove the diffuser.
