Collecting the parts to replace my pump motor. How important is it to use a special seal for a pool with an SWG? Although it's not easy to find, US Seal has a line of salt and ozone resistant seals.

How much more is it? There are thousands of saltwater pools with the standard seals. Really don't need special ones.
I wonder if those aren't for special applications, like Seaworld?
Seems to me the chemical soup people end up with when the pool store loads them up with miracle cures would be a lot harsher than weak saltwater.

GOOD
-Buna/Graphitic Plastic
-Industry standard for general pool applications
-These seals are NOT RECOMMENDED for spas, ozonators or salt chlorine generators
BETTER
-Ozone/Salt Service Seals
-Viton/Carbon Graphite
-Use for applications involving salt chlorine generators or ozonators
-These applications require tough seals

-SCS Silicon Carbide Seals
-Silicon Carbide, Viton & Stainless Steel
-For your most demanding applications
-Superior abrasion, corrosion and chemical resistance
-Best choice for salt generators or ozonators
-More forgiving when pump is run dry or accidentally loses prime
-Compatible with all pool & spa chemicals
-The best seal on the market! Upgrade your customers and provide them with peace of mind!
The "Best" seal runs anywhere from $51-94(!) Definitely not an option for me. The 'better' seal runs around $14. I would have to purchase the seal and o-rings separately (rather than a GoKit), but that's not a big deal.

Any of the three will work just fine for a residential pool at normal SWG salt levels. If you have an ocean water pool then you probably want the middle one.
