Ok, so I am a reef keeper and a pool owner....

Just thinking here....
My reef aquarium salt level is 1.026 density which is the same as 35ppt.....Typical avg ocean reef environment..

35ppt is the same as 35,000ppm....
In a salt pool the aim is about 3500ppm.....So the concentration is 1/10 that of the ocean?

You need 6 grams of salt to raise the ppm salt by 2000 (1995 actually) in a gallon of water. 1 teaspoon is roughly (very roughly) 6 grams.

Keep in mind that very rarely does water start off with zero ppm salt.
