Returning dirty water to pool during backwash

I have a Hayward S244T sand filter and getting a good deal of dirty water returning to the pool while backwashing. I also noticed today there was some dirty return water while in waste mode. I first noticed this last year and seems as though it is getting progressively worse.

Not sure if this related, several years ago I had some leakage while in regular mode and the repair man put a ball valve in the line stop the leaking.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum. :lol: It sounds like the spider gasket in your multiport valve is damaged, allowing water to "leak" within the multiport.

Fairly easy DIY project to replace it.
