Need advice with my numbers

My numbers:

FC = 0.5
TC = 0.6
PH = over 8.2
TA = 220

Based on pool calculator:

Bring FC to 4, I need 28 oz of bleach
Bring PH down 7.5, I need 18 oz of M.A to reduce PH and then aerate to increase pH so TA will go down ???

Am I on the right track?

Your missing the CYA number. It's important for your FC.
PH needs to be lower. 7.2-7.8.

What test kit are you using ?

My test kit doesn't measure the CYA.

You need to have a test kit that measures cya. The kit we recommend here is the tf100.

FC and CYA go hand in hand. Have you read pool school ?
If you haven't you need to read it. Also look at the CYA FC chart.

Your next step is to buy a good test kit that tests it all. You can find a link in my siggy below. Once you get it you will be on the right track.

For right now do as you say with the acid and such.

If you do not knowyour CYA you will not be able to really control you FC.

Is it safe to swim before I pour the chem in? My kids want to get in. The water looks crystal clean.

I don't see why not. I'd get some chlorine in there. Put enough in for 30 ppm of CYA until you can test for a real CYA number. Check FC daily. Get your PH down also.
