Pool looks like a green swamp

I wonder what I am doing wrong. My pool looks like a green swamp when I open it, and it is filled with frog eggs. It is covered all winter long but this has happened both years.

How do you cover it in the winter? Most covers I have seen leave pretty big spaces between the holes that you string the tension wire through which can be an area that critters enter your pool from.

If you have a mesh cover, you are going to have some algae. Folks with a solid cover open to cleaner pools but it can be fixed either way.

It is a tension wire type cover. Is there another kind for above ground pools?

It is also solid, not mesh, and I would call this more than "some algae."

Depending on where you are located, you may be closing early and opening a tad late. Water should still be relatively clear if you close after water temp drops below 60deg and open before the water temp is above 60 deg.
