Help Identify this plant

Hi all,

My girlfriends father gave us this plant. he cut them out of his yard because he didn't care for the extremely strong sword like branches and the incredibly sharp and hard needle on the very end. I planted it 1 year ago it was 24" tall then- it is now almost 6 feet.

its like a supper Yucca lol

Any ideas?

I think you are right about it being a yucca plant. Here are two yucca plants that look very close to yours.

I'd say Spanish Dagger yucca, just from memory.

I've always called the Spanish Bayonets, all over Central Florida where I grew up.

It's a sharp SOB. I occasionally bump into it and phew it hurts!!!

Just took out about a dozen of them, yea they hurt like the devil. Easy to take out, the roots are as soft as potato's and can be cut off with a shovel. Once out, I poured concentrated Roundup straight on the exposed roots, so far they are not coming back.

Yucca aloifolia. Vigorous, and beautiful as long as it's out of the way!
