Another thought question for the chemistry nerds: What would happen if you used Ammonium Chloride or Potassium Chloride in your pool instead of Sodium Chloride salt? If you didn't have a SWG, would it do anything? If you did have a SWG, would the SWG work?
 
It works with KCl just fine...I seem to remember some old conversations regarding sodium intake and diabetes, and people were using potassium chloride instead. You just need more of it (by weight) to have the SWG work correctly; probably need a certain molar concentration or something...I'm sure others will have that answer. Ammonium will react with chlorine (as well as being algae food) so would not work at all.
