It depends on what kind of "shock" you are looking at. There are dichlor, cal-hypo, lithium-hypo and even trichlor "shock" products and the cal-hypo products come in different percentages.

You can figure things like this out using my Pool Calculator, see the link in my signature. Enter your number of gallons near the top, then look at the effects of adding chemicals section near the bottom, enter 16 for oz and then select which kind of product you have from the pop-up menu and it will tell you how much it raises the FC level and what other things it does.
