Rock in skimmer basket. OK?

Is it OK to use a rock (bigger than pipe opening) to hold the skimmer in place? It won't effect the pool chemistry in any way will it?

You could also try to replace the skimmer basket with a heavier grade basket if it is available. I found that Warehouse Pool Supply here locally carried a few baskets that fit my skimmer. The heavy one has a lip on one edge that helps to lift it out and the whole thing is so heavy that I no longer need to use a rock to keep the basket from floating.

Just make sure the rock is bigger than the pipe opening in the bottom of the skimmer.
