Repairing painted pipe?

Hello all, wanted to know how you would go about fixing pipes or altering your plumbing system if its been painted. Do you simply sandpaper down to pvc? Any ideas? Just wanted to know so that in the future after finishing the build, I'll know whether or not to paint.

The cleaner {primer thinner] you use before glueing the pipes will also strip the paint off, if you need to work on the pipes again. So it's not a problem, but make sure all the paint is gone where the pipes join.

Dittto, the primer actually melts the pipe a little bit.
