new valve for Triton II sand filter

I'm spec'ing out replacement filter setup - looking at TR100 4.9 sq ft Triton II filter from Pentair. I currently have a multiport valve on my 3.1 sq ft unit, so that's all I'm familiar with.

I see push-pull valves on the website as alternative - what are the pros and cons vs multiport? Do I still get all the filter/backwash/recirculate options with push-pull that I do with multiport?

Push-pull is the basic unit that will give you filter and backwash ... that is it.

The multi-valves are much more flexible by adding all the other options.

got it - multiport it is. next question: 1.5" or 2" valve? my current pump is 1.5" on the pressure side, is there any advantage of going to 2" or is it not compatible? http://www.sunplay.com/Pentair-Multipor ... 261055.htm

Generally best to go large on the pipe to lower head loss.
