concrete deck question

On our new build, we have elected to have a cantilever concrete deck instead of pavers. I ASSUMED that all pool builders would be installing an expansion joint between the coping(bond beam) and the deck or a slip joint to give my deck the best chance of survival. Our builder told us that it was be just one big pour without any expansion joints that separate the bond beam to the deck.

My question is are there any guidelines that pool builders are required to follow, ASPC?, building codes? or is this the norm? Thanx

I can't answer your question, but I can tell you that the answer will depend on soil condition and weather, so you'll get better answers if you can provide some info on your region.

make sure they put a bond-breaker between the beam & deck

thanx johnt, I live in Tampa fl on a lake. The soil seems sandy but we do have a high water table. hope this helps.
