I have a check valve that's connected to my cell (Zodiac LM2) it's in the vertical position which I installed based on the showroom where I had bought the pool but the manual says not to do this and I am curious as to why? I'm assuming the valve won't shut properly?

The check valve is in the vertical position or the cell?
The reason not to put it in the vertical position is due to the possible build up of explosive gas.

I do have pics but I have to resize them as I took them using my phone. Well that would explain why I'm on my 3rd cell.....I installed it just like they did in the showroom where I bought the pool. When I pick up the cell which they are covering I'm going to mention it to them.....UNBELIEVABLE :grrrr:
Most pool stores are staffed by kids that don't have pools. You already have more knowledge than they do.
I guess I should of mentioned that but yes the cell is horizontal but the one way check valve is vertical.
It's most likely to prevent the chlorine from backflowing to equipment upstream from the cell, so as to avoid any corrosion damage. I'm guessing it's a gravity check valve, rather than a spring.
