Skimmer door

I need help identifying my skimmer door. It has two bolts sticking up where it appears there should be a door. The opening is approx 7.5 inches wide, and 6 inch tall.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Any model or part numbers on the skimmer might help also. They make universal weirs if that's the part you're talking about. And as Dave said, a picture would certainly help.

Here are some pictures. The basket is market hayward Not sure if it is stock or not. Also, how od I orientate the basket?

Hmm. I have not seen a skimmer basket with a hole in it before ... I would have to assume that that hole should be put away from the offset pipes.

I have no holes in the side of the skimmer for the door tabs to go in. thanks for the post, but I don't think that is it. Do you think there is a whole assembly missing?

I think the door tabs actually go into another piece (that you do not have) that is then screwed into the skimmer. Although my hayward I had at previous house was not the same as what you are showing (although I am sure there are different models.

There are retro-fit ones that have spring-loaded tabs that push out onto the sides of the skimmer. The one I tried to use was very flimsy, so would consider that as a last resort.

in my opinion the spring loaded ones are far and away the way to go. If you make sure to get the right size it will stay put forever. Also they float to the surface of the water giving you much better skimming action
