Sta-Rite Cartridge Filter - Do I have S7M120 or S7M400?

I always thought I had the S7M120 300 square foot filter, and that is what the "main" label on the upper tank says, but upon closer inspection there is also a sticker that says S7M400, which is 400 square feet. I assume the sticker has the correct information, and this is just the easiest way for Sta-Rite to use the same part number for the upper tank for both filters? The reason I ask is I'm shopping for some spare cartridges and I want to get the right ones. While I'm on the subject, should I get Sta-Rite cartridges, or are some of the other brands such as Unicel decent? Thanks, Don

Thanks Jason. I pulled out the manual, and all the part numbers for S7M120 and S7M400 are identical, except the cartridges and the lower tank. Since the lower tank gets a different part number for the two models, does that mean you have to get the right carts for the right model, or do you think you can get either set of carts for either lower tank?

Everything I've seen says the lower tank is the same, for example: Lower Tank Half (S7M120 or S7M400) (24850-0102S) and there is a different one used for the S8M150 and S8M500 (24851-0103S).

Hmmmm. My manual says that the S7M120 uses 24850-0102S, while the S7M400, S8M150, and the S8M500 use 24851-0103S.

I think I better call Sta-Rite and make sure before I buy anything. Thanks again for looking it up.

I followed up with Sta-Rite (Pentair); the manual does indeed have a typo, the S7M120 and S7M400 share both top and bottom tank part numbers. The only difference is which carts you install.
