If hard wired pump dies

The city inspector is telling my electrician that my pump and SWCG have to be hard wired. Thinking ahead a bit, when the time comes to replace the existing units, how difficult is it going to be to disconnect the old equipment and hook up the new? Thank you for any input.

It's really not very hard to do. It's a little more than just unplugging it but not much.

The wires are typically attached to screw down terminals within the housing of the device. In theory nothing is soldiered or permanently connected in a way that you cannot disconnect and move to new equipment.
