Added Ascorbic Acid can I add Salt now

Hi All

I have Salt water pool that have drained new added new water. The bottom had mineral stains so I added ascorbic acid, it is slow to clear the 22,500 gallon because the pool is at 53 degrees.(is this right, I have the heater running to bring it up?) Is it ok if I dump the 12 50lb bags of salt in the pool and not run the salt generator? I want it to dissolve the salt and have it prepared so that I can run the system after the process is done. Your thoughts....

I guess the simple form of question, will the salt add chlorine or raise the chlorine level, without the generator running?

As long as you leave the SWG off, or set to 0%, you can go ahead and add salt.

The salt will not add chlorine as long as the generator is not running. You will need to use liquid chlorine at this point anyway, because of the water temp.
