what is reqameanded pump for 28,000.gal pool?

The largest question on the pump is how much extra do you want to spend up front to save money in the long run? A small single speed pump would be fine, a two speed pump costs more and saves electricity, a variable speed pump costs even more and saves even more electricity. The financial payback depends on your electric rates. High rates make the variable speed pump a good deal, low rates make the single speed pump more attractive.

I like sand filters, very easy to use with minimal fuss. Every kind of filter has advantages, there is no clear winner for all pools.
