Help! Complete Newbie

I have a contract on a house, and the pool hasn't ran in two years ie.. Swamp / Frog pond.

There will be a 10 day option period to check everything out. I want to check the pumps and maybe pool heater and anything else. I'm willing to pay someone to "Inspect" the equipment.

I don't want to turn on the pumps and suck up tad poles if I can help it.

The pool has three pumps one to the waterfall, and two others not sure if they both are for filtration etc..

Here is the frog pond before it went down.... When we close I will start the transition.

You're probably better off hiring an inspection and let them check everything they can.

Saturday I'm going to the house. Is there anything harmful about quickly turning the pumps on to make sure they work?

Another question: why three pumps? Waterfall, general pump and what?

Guessing 3rd is a booster pump for a cleaner.

Fill the baskets with water if they're empty and it's fine to run them a few seconds to make sure they'll start. If the pool is full of water you can actually prime and run them to check leaks, etc..

The pool is full and holding water. It's just full of leaves and possibly a polaris. I'll check the skimmer at the pumps and make sure it has water when we turn them on.

Since it's full of water I'd go ahead and run everything.

Well all 3 pumps worked just fine. After close inspection, pump (1) for circulation and general filter (2) for waterfall (3) has hoses not PVC connected and is for the pool cleaner

Well, we closed on the house last Thursday crew showed up on Friday and the pull was full by Sunday.
