Testing tap water

I have the TF100 kit but have not yet tested my tap water but I just drained my spa so need to find a starting point. Is there any special instructions, i.e. is water temperature important? Also, how do I have find out if there are metals in my tap water?

Water should be room temperature, although does not affect much.

Have a pool store test for metals. Kits are expensive and not needed often.

If I was on municipal water, I wouldn't go to much trouble to do a metal test...........if you have metals, it is almost always because you are using a well.

okay... I won't worry about it but if I get a chance I might see if the pool store will test a sample for metals.
